<IMAGINARY GARDEN> HELENA LEHTINEN
HELENA LEHTINEN
1 NOVEMBER - 14 NOVEMBER, 2023
Walking in the imaginary garden.
Trying to catch the smells and colors . What is real and which I just imagine.
Dreams and reality gets mixed and create new gardens. My gardens.

The past few years, the pandemic brought about an unprecedented and prolonged pause to our lives, during which new artwork emerged around the world. Among those, Helena Lehtinen’s work spoke to me most directly with its bold colors and shapes.
I first met Lehtinen at Schmuck, where she shared with a shy smile that she has been an artist her entire life but only enjoyed widespread recognition for her work starting age 70. Lehtinen graduated from the Lahti Goldsmith School in Poland in 1997 and taught at multiple institutions while also working as an artist. Her recent work has been received with acclaim and love.
This exhibition showcases this “late” work by Lehtinen, which tells her artist story through and through. I look forward to having our guests enjoy the exhibition and hope that they walk away having felt a special emotional connection to the work, whether it’s to the colors, shapes, or story.
